About Bushwick Therapy

Our Approach and Philosophy

We practice from a cultural relational framework that centers your lived experience and identity within a structurally racist and oppressive system. We also focus on the here-and-now, using the therapeutic relationship as a corrective experience that models healthier ways of relating. Together, we’ll explore influences like racism, ableism, sexism, heteronormative systems, and family history, and how they impact you today.

Because we are trauma-trained, we offer psychoeducation about how stress affects the nervous system, why emotional regulation can be challenging, and how to practice co-regulation safely in session. For clients dealing with PTSD or intense triggers, we can take a leadership role to help keep therapy safe and manageable.

Our goal is for you to feel more grounded, connected to your body, and able to respond to life’s challenges with intention and self-compassion. Therapy is a collaborative process where you set the pace and direction — we are here to guide and support you every step of the way.

What You Can Expect From Therapy

When you come to therapy at Bushwick Therapy, whether in our cozy physical Brooklyn office or virtually from your home, you’ll find a welcoming and authentic space to explore your experience.

Our work together is grounded in connection — connection to yourself, to your body, and to the relationships that shape your life. I believe the relationship between therapist and client is at the heart of meaningful change. We’re here not just to listen, but to be real with you. Throughout our work, we will offer you our honest and grounded presence.

Our  approach to therapy  is trauma-informed, culturally-competent, and anti-oppressive. Many of my clients are immigrant-second-generation Americans or mixed-race individuals navigating complex family dynamics and cultural identities. We’ll look at how systemic issues and intergenerational trauma impact your feelings and relationships, while focusing on your here-and-now experiences.

What Therapy Looks Like — Session to Session

Each therapy session is a chance for you to slow down and check in with yourself and your therapist. In the  first meetings, your therapist willget to know your story. This is more than the symptoms you’re struggling with. Your story speaks about who you are, your cultural background, and what you want from therapy. This helps me tailor our sessions to support your unique journey.

Most sessions involve exploring your feelings, thoughts, and physical sensations. Sometimes you’ll talk about what happened during the week, other times we’ll notice emotional or relational patterns. I often invite you to tune into your body — noticing breath, tension, or somatic sensations  — to help regulate your nervous system and make sense of emotions that words alone can’t always capture.

Our work is collaborative: you lead what’s most important to you, and I’m here to offer guidance, support, and sometimes gentle challenges to old patterns that no longer serve you. Over time, you’ll develop tools to respond to life with greater curiosity and compassion.

Who We Work With

We specialize in supporting clients who hold marginalized identities, particularly immigrant and second-generation individuals. I help those seeking to break free from harmful relational patterns rooted in family dynamics and intergenerational trauma. We also work with people who want to better understand themselves, regulate difficult emotions, and build secure, healthy relationships.

We also work with clients who want to:

  • Better understand themselves and their emotional patterns

  • Track and regulate overwhelming or difficult emotions

  • Build secure, healthy, and reciprocal relationships

  • Soften a harsh inner critic or sense of never being “enough”

  • Set boundaries while managing guilt or fear of disconnection

Our work is about making space for your full self with compassion and care.
